Laying of Nomograms

Sizing a Solar Heating System by use of
Nomograms

The following nomograms will help you to make an initial determination of the required collector
surface and the storage tank capacity.

The diagram on the right will help you determine the collector surface for solar heating systems for hot water. Taken as a basis of 30°- 60°. The roof is facing the direction SSW-SSE.

If the roof is facing the direction SW-SE or W-E, the collector surface should be increased by 25%, in the latter case by 50%.

The diagram on the right will help you determine what surface collector you will need for a hot water and space heat in support system. Taken as a basis for this diagram was a 30% coverage of the total amount of energy needed for one household with an energy requirement of > 30 [kWh/(m² x a)] up to < 75 [kWp/m² x a)].
The roof slope lies by 30°-60° and is facing the direction SSW-SSE.
If the roof is facing the direction SW-SE or W-E, the collector surface should be increased by 25%, in the latter case by 50%.

The diagram on the right will help you determine the collector surface
for solar heating systems for hot water and swimming pool
heating.

A roof slope of 30°-60° and the roof facing the direction SSW-SSE was
taken as a basis for this diagram.

If the roof is facing the direction SW-SE or W-E, the collector
surface should be increased by 25%, in the latter case by 50%.

The above shown details refer to the location Würzburg, Germany..
Other palaces in the world may require a different design
(local conditions may vary the design)
